A meeting on the latest updates of the EEE Alumni Initiative for Post-graduate Fellowship and Laboratory Development was held in the Department of EEE, BUET on 03 July 2023. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department Prof. Aynal Haque, previous Head of the Department Prof. Kamrul Hasan, Founder and Chair of Ankur International Dr. Shaestagir Chowdhury, Convenor of the Departmental Committee related to the Alumni Initiative Prof. Ziaur Rahman Khan, and Committee Members Dr. Zunaid Baten and Dr. Ahmed Zubair. Earlier, the main coordinators of the initiative, Dr. Maruf Hossain (EEE'00) and Dr. Shafee Khan (EEE'07), communicated over phone and email from the USA regarding the latest updates of the initiative.

In the meeting, the Department of EEE gratefully acknowledged the valuable contributions of its revered Alumni, and the valuable support of Ankur International regarding fund transfer from the USA. To date, contributions in the amount of around 13 lakhs BDT have been collected in BUET's official bank account, which was formed exclusively to collect the Alumni contributions. In the meeting, the Department of EEE was glad to know that additional contributions in the amount of around 30,000 USD have already been collected through this initiative and the funds will be transferred by Ankur International to the official bank account of EEE Alumni Award soon. In accordance with the guidelines of this initiative, the collected funds will be utilized to initiate the ‘EEE Alumni Excellence Award’ and ‘Prof. Mohammad Ali Choudhury Memorial Award’ to promote post-graduate research activities. Parts of the collected funds will also be utilized to renovate and modernize the Mohammad Ali Chowdhury Power Electronics Laboratory.

The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks for all involved in the initiative. It is expected that the continued support and valuable contributions of the distinguished Alumni of the Department will greatly promote post-graduate research and academic excellence in the days to come.
