The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of the oldest and largest departments of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The department has been successful to attract the right mix of high caliber and skilled professional faculty members and researchers. It is also the department of choice for the topmost students admitted each year in BUET.
In 2022 QS ranking BUET stood 185 with the Department of EEE achieving highest score among the departments. With a yearly intake of about 200 fresh undergraduates and about 150 postgraduates every year, the Department of EEE, BUET currently has more than 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The total number of faculty members at present in the department is 90. More than half of these faculty members have obtained the highest academic qualification of Ph.D. from reputed universities in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan. The primary responsibility of the department is to provide world-class education in different branches of electrical and electronic engineering. The department is producing well qualified and highly motivated graduates in electrical and electronic engineering who are serving in the top most organizations and institute thus leading the country by solving the most challenging engineering problems. Our graduates are also playing a leading role in the top most engineering entities in the world such as Google, Microsoft, AMAZON to name a few beside serving as faculty members in world top ranking Universities such as UC Berkley, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Goergia Tech etc.
In addition to teaching and research, the department provides its expert services in advisory, consultancy, research and testing to individuals, corporates, industries as well as various forms of national and international interests. The faculty members of the department are involved in national policy making activities and serving in the board of nation’s prestigious organizations. They also served as Experts and Advisors in various National Level committees of different Ministries and Organizations. The well experience and highly professional faculty members of the department have rendered expert services on power generation, transmission, distribution, communication and electronics as well as provided expert services to national mega projects.
