Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), BUET has recently organized the “Postgraduate Freshers’ Orientation, April 2024,” for its newly admitted postgraduate students. The event was held in a virtual platform on Monday, September 30th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This virtual orientation was aimed at welcoming the incoming postgraduate students and introducing them to the department’s vibrant academic and research environment. The Chief Guest of the event was the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BUET, Professor Dr. A. B. M. Badruzzaman. Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, the Honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET, joined the program as a Special Guest. The Guest of Honor of the event was Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of EEE, BUET. Professor Dr. A. B. M. Harun-Ur-Rashid , Head of the Department of EEE, chaired the orientation program.

The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran presented by Iftekharul Islam Emon. The inaugural part of the Program was conducted by Professor, Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Convenor of this Postgraduate Freshers’ Orientation. Right after the recitation from the Holy Quran, a warm welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. A. B. M. Harun-Ur-Rashid. He highlighted the department's commitment to fostering a thriving research culture and encouraged students to make the most of the resources available at BUET. Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, the Honourable Pro-Vice-Chancellor of BUET, then addressed the participants as the Special Guest, emphasizing the importance of advanced research and continuous learning to stay relevant in the fast-evolving technological landscape. The Chief Guest, the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of BUET, Professor Dr. A. B. M. Badruzzaman, delivered an inspiring speech focusing on the role of postgraduate studies in driving innovation and contributing to both national and global challenges. He urged the students to aim for excellence while maintaining a balance between academic rigor and mental well-being. The event's Guest of Honor, Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of EEE, offered a Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the faculty and administrative teams in organizing the event. He encouraged students to actively engage with their peers and faculty members to make the most of their academic journey at BUET.

After the inaugural part, there wer six segments in the Postgraduate Freshers’ Orientation April 2024. First, an introduction to the Department of EEE and its three broad research areas were presented by Shafin Bin Hamid and Md. Jawad Ul Islam. Next, a brief introduction to our respected teachers who are members of the Board of Postgraduate Studies was presented by Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Arafat. Through these presentations, students got a glimpse into the cutting-edge work being carried out by faculty members. Next, Postgraduate Rules and Regulations were elaborated by Prof. Dr. Md. Zahurul Islam followed by a “Pathway to Earning MSc/PhD Degree” presented by Dr. Sajid Muhaimin Choudhury. Next, Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah presented “Ethical Issues in Postgraduate Program”. Finally, an Experience-Sharing Session was conducted by Dr. Zabir Ahmed where a few of our young alumni who completed their M.Sc. program from the Department of EEE, BUET and are now employed in Industry/Academia shared their experience about our postgraduate program. This session provided incoming students with inspiration and guidance. The virtual session was managed by Sadat Tahmeed Azad and Azazul Islam. The Question-Answer and Photo Session was followed by the Closing Session, leaving participants motivated and well-informed about their future endeavors at BUET.
