BUET EEE Fresh Graduates’ Connectivity

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), BUET has organized a Symposium on Graduate Connectivity & Career History on 28th May 2025 presided by the Professor Dr. A B M Harun-ur-Rashid, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), BUET. This event aimed to bring together recent EEE graduates to share their career journeys, reconnect with peers, and strengthen the BUET alumni network. 89 Graduates from recent batches of EEE registered for the program. As part of the program, we have collected information about the current professional status of our graduates. This database will also help foster stronger links among students and alumni. Also, we have collected their opinions about current course curriculum.

Summary: The meeting commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by addresses from Professor Dr. Celia Shahnaz, convenor of the symposium, Professor Dr. A B M Harun-ur-Rashid, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), BUET and Professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUET. Employer of different organizations, being alumni of this department, were invited and joined the event as panelists along with the fresh graduates. An interactive session engaging the panelists and participants (fresh graduates) was conducted by the symposium convener Dr. Celia Shahnaz. The graduates expressed the necessity of a job searching online platform and necessary counselling for the struggling students throughout undergraduate years. The panelists shared their own experiences and emphasized on building soft skills like presentation, management and professionalism. They provided feedbacks in recruiting the graduates highlighting the lacking. They inspired the graduates to be resilient and adaptive with the changing environment and also shared opportunities to work with them. However, a vision is discussed to created EEE Alumni Mentor Mentee network to overcome the challenges faced by recent graduates

Finally, a discussion session on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum of the EEE Department was held. This session was conducted by Professor Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah. During this session, alumni and graduates were invited to share their perspectives too. Graduating students’ exit questionnaires are distributed to the Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduating students at the end of their graduation. These questionnaires are completed by the students. The questionnaires contain a direct set of questions for assessing each course through 12 outcomes. Through this questionnaire, opinions of students on the Program outcomes are sought. Such a survey is conducted on graduating students of the years 2024 and 2025. The results of the exit survey for PO attainment is shown in the figure. Detailed survey result is provided in Annexure 8.02. The Symposium ended with vote of thanks from the Symposium organizers from the department of EEE, BUET.
