A book titled "Solar Home Sytems" launched on 14 September 2013 through a formal ceremony at the Bangladesh-Korea Information Access Center (IAC) organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Mr. Tapas Kumar Roy, Additional Secretary of Power Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present in the ceremony as the chief guest. Mr. Erich Otto Gomm, Program Co-ordinator of Sustainable Energy for Development (SED) of GIZ and Prof. Dr. Aminul Hoque, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering were also present as special guests. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Pran Kanai Saha, Head of the Department of EEE. The guests and two of the authors Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan and Dr. S. Shahnawaz Ahmed spoke at the event.

The book has been published in joint collaboration with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BUET. It is the first published book written in Bengali on complete solar home systems. The book was writen by six professors of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BUET, who are experienced in this field. They are Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Dr. S. Shahnawaz Ahmed, Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan, Dr. Md. Quamrul Ahsan, Dr. Md. Shah Alam, and Dr. Kazi Mujibur Rahman. It is a book designed to cater to the people from root level to the people working in higher education systems in solar home system.
